Wizard Gardens is a family business run by John and Janie Thorogood aided by sons James and Christopher.

		Wizard’s headquarters is based at the family home, a complex of house, studio, work rooms and of course gardens. Situated in one of the loveliest parts of England, the Vale of Dedham on the Essex, Suffolk borders, it has stunning views over the surrounding countryside. The same countryside that John Constable, England’s most famous landscape artist, enjoyed painting so much.
		The garden itself, once an area of wild bramble and thickets has been transformed into the quintessential English country garden. It incorporates many of the features suggested in schemes for Wizards clients.

		John was originally a successful restaurateur with a natural flair for creating beautiful rooms with atmosphere. He took this ability outdoors some 18 years ago where his real love, garden design, could become his total focus. Gaining a thorough knowledge of plants and learning ‘the tricks of the trade’ for constructing hard landscaping came over the years with hands on experience being the main learning curve.
		His portfolio boasts gardens of all shapes and sizes ranging from the smallest new build courtyard gardens to moated properties with acres of gardens – and everything in between. Some of these gardens have been featured in national papers, magazines and journals and his own garden was featured in a TV series, “Great Little Gardens” on BBC 2 a few years ago.

		Janie has spent much or her business life in public relations and marketing for national horticultural companies. She is also a talented and prolific artist. Now working from home she splits her time between Wizard Gardens, illustrating children’s books for world wide distribution and other artistic ventures. Click here for Janies web site.
		James is a software wiz and having created the Wizard website now maintains it adding new features as and when they become available.
		Christopher is an e-marketing guru based in London. Although used to consulting with mega large organisations his advice on marketing strategies for our more workaday operation is invaluable.
