Advice is what Wizard is all about. Wizard advises you on:

  • Your design
  • Construction details
  • Your planting plan
  • How to get the best prices
  • Building single features
  • Sourcing contractors and tradesmen

However – if you really are stuck or have a problem then use our 'one to one' service. Just pick up the phone (7am – 7pm - 7 days a week) or email us and we will help you.

When can you do your project?

The best and only time of the year to plant up used to be in the Autumn or late Winter. This was for "bare root" stock which can only be planted outside of the growing season.

Patio Design in Process

Patios - plain or fancy - you choose

All of our stock (except the roses) are container grown and can be planted up at any time of the year – weather permitting.

However on no account plant up in the middle of the summer and then disappear for a holiday without arranging watering in your absence.

The construction side of your project can also be done at any time of the year. We no longer have really cold winters making construction impossible, you just have to take a sensible view on what you are going to do. Your soil conditions, likely weather to come, your own time available will all come into the decision of when to start.

And lastly – do give yourself sufficient time to plan your garden project. All aspects must be considered fully and a properly considered schedule of work planned out.

Do you have to do it all at once?

Not at all. Although it is best to get it all over and done with in one hit, your scheme can be completed in stages.

We will of course advise on the order that the various stages should be tackled.

Software for DIY Design?

For most people, for most purposes, garden design software is useless and a waste of money.

The programs are little more than toys, great fun to use but can they come up with the best design for you?

Their problem is that they are just allowing you to rearrange pre-concieved ideas and features into what you feel is a pleasing pattern. There is no originality or ability to solve special problems.

They are of use to some professionals but their use is to help do the job quicker, not better.
Also, the professional is able to use software to effect because they have had the basic training and experience and of course the flair. Have you?

Do we use garden design software? For all of the above reasons - absolutely not.

If you feel you have the experience to do the design yourself (and why not, its the best fun ever) by far the best option is a large piece of paper, a pencil and a scale ruler. If not then call on professional help.
