SCREE GARDENS

Contact Us

Scree is the accumulation of all the little bits of stone and natural debris that has fallen off a rocky outcrop over many years. Where growing conditions permit plants will grow.

This naturally accumulating stone comes in all shapes and sizes ranging from very small pieces of shale to large pieces of rock. It is very difficult to get this natural look as small sized stone is at best available in only one or two or maybe three sizes. If you are not careful this will not look authentic when mixed and spread over a large area.

If for example you are using Blue Slate you could have a mixture of blue slate shale and "paddle stones".
